Immigration physical examinations are a mandatory part of any adjustment status. Only a doctor (MD or DO) designated as a civil surgeon by the USCIS can perform this medical exam and sign your I-693 Form.

Our Civil Surgeon is Dr. Deeni De La Rosa, she too had to go through this process and will be able to guide you through all the steps and the most efficient possible way.
 
The visit consists of a full medical history, review of systems, physical exam, evaluation of vaccine records, application of missing immunizations (shots) and laboratory tests. The encounter takes around one hour per patient.

Vaccination requirements For explicit details regarding the vaccinations you are required to receive, refer to the "Which Vaccines Do I Need for My I-693 Form?" section below. It is important to be fully informed and compliant with these requirements.

Assessment for physical or mental disorders In strict adherence to DSM and WHO guidelines, your provider will ask pertinent questions to identify any potential physical or mental disorders. Remember, having a disorder does not disqualify you from the immigration process. Waivers are available for individuals who may need them.

Evaluation for drug addiction or abuse Through a detailed review of your medical history and laboratory tests if needed, it will be determined if you have a drug addiction or are involved in drug abuse. It is crucial to understand that having an abuse issue or addiction does not automatically result in disqualification; waivers can be sought in various cases.

Testing for communicable diseases All individuals will undergo tuberculosis testing, for patients 2 years and older this requires a blood sample. Tests for syphilis and gonorrhea are age and risk factor dependent. You will be told during the encounter if you need them or not. Gonorrhea is tested in urine, Syphilis in blood. All the tests need to be done at the civil surgeon's office for validity purposes.
